Living in ‘great’ rooms

Living in ‘great’ rooms

“Sit long, talk much and laugh often.”

This living room created some unique challenges. The photograph shows the corner of the room boxed out between the two sofas. Had it not been encasing a structural column that was running up the entire building, it might have been relocated. (With the proper architectural renderings and engineering approvals, of course). Since this was something that had to remain in it’s place, we had furniture designed to work within the space constraints. Two one armed sofas, one right armed, one left worked perfectly. The addition of both custom and ready made pillows softened the modern boxy lines of the sofas, coordinated with the Persian rug and resulted in a more inviting and cozy space.

“The living room should be a place where we feel totally at ease-a temple of the soul.” – Terence Conran
